Knowing what's going on around the world is important because globalization has made us connected with each other. On this date in 1980, Cable News Network began its first broadcast day. Better known by its letters, CNN was the first network in the US to show 24 hours of just news. Ted Turner, businessman and philanthropist, founded CNN. Today, many people rely on the channel and its website to get up-to-the-minute information. It has been estimated that CNN is now available in 93 million homes worldwide.
